FOR ADMIN STAFF AT UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS SUSSEX
RTT Buddy: Getting Started
RTT Buddy answers Referral to Treatment questions, clock starts, stops and pauses, using the trust's own access policy first and the national RTT rules as a labelled fallback. Every answer tells you where it came from.
Signing in the first time
Your RTT admin will send you two things: your work email address and an access code that looks like RYR-7K4M-9XQD2.
- Go to the RTT Buddy address in your invitation and choose Set up your account.
- Enter your work email and the access code. Spaces and dashes do not matter.
- Choose a password you do not use anywhere else.
- Tick to accept the terms of service and acceptable use policy.
Your code works once and expires 30 days after it was issued. After this, you sign in with your email and password, and you will never need the code again. Do not pass your code to anyone else: until you set your password it is the only thing protecting your account.
The one rule that matters
Getting a good answer
- Give the events and their timing: referral, first appointment, DNA, decision to treat, active monitoring.
- Read the citation. Every answer names the clause of the Sussex access policy or the national rule it relied on.
- Check the confidence. A clear answer is one the tool is confident about. An answer flagged as needing review, or as coming from a web source, should be confirmed with your named RTT lead before you act on it.
- If the tool does not know, it says so and tells you who to ask. That is the tool working correctly, not failing.
Telling us when it is wrong
Under every answer there is a thumbs up and thumbs down. If you thumb down, pick a reason from the list, for example wrong rule or too cautious. You cannot type free text, which keeps patient details out of the system.
This matters more than it looks. A wrong answer that nobody flags stays wrong. A wrong answer that is flagged gets fixed and becomes a permanent test, so it cannot come back.
You will also be asked, occasionally, what you would have done without RTT Buddy. One tap, no follow-up. It is how the trust measures whether the tool is actually saving anyone time.
If you get stuck
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your access code is not recognised | Check it has not expired: codes last 30 days. Ask your RTT admin to reissue it, which takes seconds. |
| You never received a code | Ask your RTT admin to add you. Access is by approved list, so you cannot sign yourself up. |
| You have forgotten your password | Use the forgotten password link. If nothing arrives, ask your RTT admin to reset your access and you will be sent a new code. |
| You are locked out after several attempts | Wait an hour and try again, or ask your RTT admin to reset your access. |
| You are unsure about an answer | Do not act on it. Check with your RTT lead, and thumb it down so it gets looked at. |
For anything about your account, your first point of contact is always your trust's RTT admin.
